As part of the “Sentiero diVino” initiative, the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi will celebrate the International Holocaust Remembrance Day – an international memorial day that commemorates, on 27 January, the victims of the Holocaust – through the screening of the movie “The Shadow of the Day” by Italian director Giuseppe Piccioni, featuring Riccardo Scamarcio and Benedetta Porcaroli. The screening, in Italian with English subtitles, will be held on Monday, January 29 at 6:30 PM at Casa Italia (18 Le Phung Hieu, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi).
The film, set in 1938 in Ascoli Piceno, tells the story of Luciano, owner of a restaurant and sympathizer of the Fascist Party, and Anna, whom he hires as a waitress. His love for Anna, which begins to blossom a few days after the introduction of the fascist racial laws, and the latter’s personal story will place Luciano faced with choices and dilemmas that he hoped he could avoid.
