Screening of the film “Hidden away – Volevo nascondermi” on the occasion of the Italian Contemporary Art Day 2025 (Casa Italia, 9 October 2025, 6 p.m.)

Locandina Volevo nascondermi

On the occasion of the XXVI edition of Italian Contemporary Art Day, an annual event designed to showcase the vitality of Italian contemporary art, the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi is pleased to invite you to the screening of the film “Hidden away – Volevo nascondermi” by Italian director Giorgio Diritti, which will be held on Thursday 9 October 2025 at 6 p.m. at Casa Italia (18 Le Phung Hieu, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi).

The film traces the life of Antonio Ligabue (played by Elio Germano), a naïf and imaginative artist who painted wild animals while living among the poplar groves of the Po River. His existence, marked by hardship and isolation, is transformed into a fairy tale of redemption through art, which allowed him to communicate and be loved by the world. Released in 2020, the film won the Nastro dell’Anno and the Globo d’Oro for Best Film. For his performance, Germano won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and the David di Donatello for Best Actor.

The screening will be in Italian with English subtitles and will be followed by a convivial moment with Italian food and wine tasting as part of the “Sentiero diVino” initiative, in collaboration with Viet-It Wines and Caffè Italia.

For organizational reasons, please confirm your attendance at the event by writing to culturale.hanoi@esteri.it by Monday 6 October.
