“Night of Literature”. A reading walk (Various locations, 9 May 2026, 7:00-10:00 PM)
“Night of Literature” is an immersive literary walk taking place across various venues in Hanoi on 9 May 2026 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, during which participants move between different locations to listen to live readings of selected excerpts from contemporary European and Vietnamese literary works. Centered on the theme “Loneliness and Solidarity in Literature”, the event explores experiences of solitude and connection in urban life through literature, offering audiences a unique multisensory encounter with texts in diverse cultural settings.
At Goethe-Institut Hanoi (58–60 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi), the programme will feature readings of excerpts from Elena Ferrante’s internationally acclaimed novel “My Brilliant Friend”. Through Ferrante’s vivid storytelling, audiences will be transported to Naples and introduced to the unforgettable characters who have captivated readers worldwide. The reading will explore how, amid the solitude and hardships of the Neapolitan neighbourhood, a profound bond of solidarity and friendship emerges between the two protagonists.
