Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni, along with some staff members, was received yesterday afternoon for a courtesy call by the new President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang.
During the cordial meeting, which lasted 40 minutes, they made an overview on the excellent pace of bilateral relations and touched, in particular, some aspects of the commercial and the cultural cooperation.
For both sectors, they agreed on a further strengthening of Rome-Hanoi relations, so as to achieve even higher results on the path of growth and development.
The existing strategic partnership between the two countries saw important high-level visits taking place in the past few years. The last one in order of time is that of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who preserving a positive memory of the meetings with Vietnamese Authorities and of the days spent in Vietnam last November, has sent to the President Quang an invitation to pay a state visit to Italy in order to nurture the exchange of visits in both directions and to promote further strengthening of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Piccioni was one of the first Heads of Mission to be received by the new President and that is a further evidence of the solidity of Italian-Vietnamese friendship, on whose foundations great achievements are built for the good of the two peoples.
