Entirely built in Italy at Fincantieri’s Integrated Shipyard and launched in 2020, it is named after the Doge of Venice who successfully commanded the Venetian Republic fleet in the XVII century in numerous naval battles against the Ottoman empire.

The Morosini is a Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Italian Navy designed with enhanced “dual use” features to perform both military tasks and civil protection activities.

With a length of 143 meters, a crew of 137 members and a maximum speed of 32 knots, it features a peculiar wave-piercing double bow, reminiscent of the rostrum of ancient Roman ships, an engineering solution optimizing the vessel’s performances in terms of hydrodynamics and maximum attainable speed, with a significant reduction in fuel consumption. Another innovative element is its naval cockpit which allows the management of sailing and air and naval operations by only two operators.

The combination of the newest technologies and extensive use of modularity concept make the Morosini an excellence of the Italian defence industry. For the occasion, representatives of leading Italian defence companies such as Elettronica, Fincantieri and Leonardo will accompany the visit.
