The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi is glad to present the 8th Italian Design Day in Vietnam (IDD). Launched in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, IDD is an annual initiative conceived to promote the history and modernity of Italian design and architecture, share experiences with partners worldwide and encourage the exchange of innovative practices. Since its first edition in 2017, more than a thousand events have been organized as part of the initiative by the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Offices of the Italian Trade Agency, with over 470 designers, architects, entrepreneurs, academics and specialized journalists involved.
The theme of 2024 edition is “Manufacturing value. Innovation, inclusiveness and sustainability”. The concept emphasizes the capacity of Italian manufacturing to shape innovative objects, that combine sustainability and aesthetics through the use of cutting-edge fabrication techniques. The goal behind IDD 2024 is also to identify models and good practices capable of meeting the challenges of contemporaneity, highlighting the ability of Italian design to create and spread culture, as well as forms.
Moreover, IDD 2024 is a launching platform for “Il Salone del Mobile di Milano” (Milan, 16-21 April 2024). Established in 1961, the “Salone” represents the largest trade fair of its kind in the world, showcasing the latest innovations in furniture and design from many countries.
In Hanoi, the 8th edition of the Italian Design Day will take place through a Conference on design in manufacturing industry, held at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE – 55 Giai Phong, Hai Ba Trung) on 15th April 2024 at 09:30 AM and organized in collaboration with Ariston Group. A renowned manufacturer for water and space heating, Ariston has been one of the first Italian investors in Vietnam, with a presence of more than 35 years in the market. For the occasion of the IDD Conference, the designer of Ariston Group products and Founder of Umberto Palermo Design, Mr. Umberto Palermo, will deliver a keynote speech. The conference will be opened by Prof. Dr. Hoang Trung, Rector of HUCE, and Mr. Marco della Seta, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam.

The 2024 Italian Design Day in Hanoi will also be the occasion to celebrate the “National Day of Made in Italy”, a new initiative launched in 2023 by the Italian government to promote the creativity and excellency of Italian industry.
