2023 Italian Film Festival (November 27 – December 02, 2023)

The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi proudly presents the 2023 ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL, which will take place at the National Cinema Centre (87 Lang Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi) at 19:30 every day from November 27 to December 02, 2023.

The Festival is organised in coordination with the Asian Film Festival in Rome, aiming to offer to Vietnamese audiences a privileged glimpse into Italy’s contemporary cinema. Through six outstanding films spanning from drama to comedy, of which many have won accolades at prestigious festivals, the 2023 Italian Film Festival will depict the Italian modern society in the face of new challenges while also trying to connect with and maintain its age-old traditional heritage.

The list of films that will be screened is as follows:

November 27: THE HUMMINGBIRD (IL COLIBRÌ) | Directed by Francesca Archibugi | 2022 | 123 minutes;

November 28: DIABOLIK (DIABOLIK) | Directed by Antonio Manetti and Marco Manetti | 2021 | 133 minutes;

November 29: SEPTEMBER (SETTEMBRE) | Directed by Giulia Louise Steigerwalt | 2022 | 110 minutes;

November 30: DIABOLIK GINKO ATTACKS (DIABOLIK GINKO ALL’ATTACCO) | Directed by Antonio Manetti and Marco Manetti | 2022 | 120 minutes;

December 01: LEONORA (LEONORA ADDIO) | Directed by Paolo Taviani | 2022 | 90 minutes;

December 02: THE RETURN OF CASANOVA (IL RITORNO DI CASANOVA) | Directed by Gabriele Salvatores | 2023 | 90 minutes.

All film screenings (in Italian with English and Vietnamese subtitles) will start at 19:30 in Room 4 (2nd Floor), National Cinema Centre (87 Lang Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi). Each film screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the Asian Film Festival’s Artistic Director Antonio Termenini.

In order to get free tickets, audiences must register in advance at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScVc6yRfCC_N2f-OOcQUytmPQkvyW2rNUzWmPT-C_Ll0BccRQ/viewform. After registration and starting from Tuesday, November 21 (09:30 – 17:00), audiences can get their tickets at Casa Italia (18 Le Phung Hieu, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) until all tickets are distributed.

On Thursday, November 30 at 14:00 Casa Italia will host a talk about “International Film Festival – Making process and stories behind the scenes” with Artistic Director Antonio Termenini and prominent Vietnamese cinema critics and film directors. In order to participate in the talk, people are required to register by Wednesday, November 29 by sending an e-mail to hanoigrapevine@gmail.com.
