Meeting of the Joint Commission for Science and Technology Cooperation between Italy and Vietnam

On July 1st the VII Joint Commssion for Science and Technology Cooperation between Italy and Vietnam held a meeting at the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology. It was the first bilateral meeting “in person” after the most delicate phase of the Covid-19 emergency. The new Scientific Attache’ of the Italian Embassy, Prof. Marco Abbiati, joined the Italian delegation.

A meeting with Vice Minister Bui The Duy took place before the Joint Commission. The participants reviewed the state of art of the cooperation between the two countries, which began in 1992 with the signature of the Cooperation Agreement. They also identified the sectors of common interest for the next years: agriculture and food science, biotechnology and medicine, environment and climate change, information and communication technologies, advanced materials technology, industry 4.0, astrophysics, space and earth observation, technologies applied to conservation of Cultural Heritage.

During the meeting, the Executive Programme for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Italy and Vietnam for the years 2021-2023 was signed. The Programme identifies 11 joint research projects chosen by the Italian and Vietnamese Ministries of Foreign Affairs following a call published in Spring 2019.
