On March 21 ended the rich calendar of events organized by the Embassy for the 3rd Italian Design Day around the theme “Cities of the future”:
– workshop on the enhancement of the area around the Hoan Kiem lake, curated by the IUAV of Venice and attended by students from
the University of Architecture, the National University of Civil Engineering and the University Phuong Dong;
– conference on the relationship between the idea of the city of the future and the conservation of urban heritage, held at the prestigious UNESCO site of the Imperial Citadel, generously granted by the city of Hanoi, which saw the intervention of architect Michele de Lucchi, ambassador of Italian design 2019;
– seminar on business opportunities deriving from design and architecture;
– lecture by architect Michele De Lucchi at the University of Industrial Design on the inclusion of buildings in the surrounding environment and on the importance of creativity and emotions.
All the exciting presentations have highlighted the importance of design and the topicality of this year’s theme, especially in the dynamic Vietnamese context: from the visionary “earth stations” illustrated by Arch. De Lucchi, to the idea of ”creative city” promoted by UNESCO; from the challenges of urban growth, highlighted by the Arch. Ngo Viet Nam Son, to the Italian skills in the sector presented by the IUAV, AICS and the Polytechnic of Milan; up to the specific cases of the city of Hanoi and its development opportunities.
