WORKSHOP “TOWARDS A GLOBAL APPROACH TO WATER ISSUES: MANAGEMENT, MONITORING AND TREATMENT”

On October 13, Ho Chi Minh City hosted the seminar “Towards a Global Approach to Water Issues: Management, Monitoring and Treatment” organized by the Embassy in Hanoi and the Consulate General in HCMC.

The seminar, which drew a great interest among local institutions, research centers and local businesses, aimed at creating a useful and operational opportunity for meetings between representatives of the Italian academic and entrepreneurial world, on one side, and local subjects, on the other side, on issues of growing relevance in an increasingly vulnerable and exposed to climate change country, which needs to put in place urgent interventions to effectively respond to water management issues.

The debate fed by the contributions of a so-qualified parterre enabled to illustrate to the Vietnamese public the Italian experiences and related research activities and to deepen the concrete requirements for the management and development of a metropolis of 13,000,000 inhabitants – as HCMC is – systematically afflicted by extreme atmospheric phenomena. Equally, it has offered the opportunity to establish useful contacts between universities, research institutes, businesses and institutions with a view to exploring new opportunities for collaboration between our two countries.
