The Embassy of Italy in Vietnam, in the framework of “Y-Viet 2014” is glad to announce that on Monday, the 10th March at Casa Italia (18, Le Phung Hieu, Hanoi) took place the official opening of the art exhibition “Fossilised Hanoi”, by the renowned Vietnamese artist Vuong Van Thao.
Vuong Van Thao, was born in Hanoi, graduated at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts in 1995. He received various awards, such as “Hanoi Fines Arts Association” Award, “Vietnam Sweden Cultural Fund” Award and “Bui Xuan Phai-Love for Hanoi” Award. His sculpture works are displayed on a permanent basis at “Asian Art Spotlight” in China and some “Living Fossils” sculpture works are exhibited at the Modern Fine Arts Collection of SAM Singapore Art Museum and at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
With the idea of preservation and conservation of cultural values, especially the culture of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, this exhibition “Fossilised Hanoi” will showcase a number of representative works in a period from 2006 to present, focused on Hanoi.
Vuong Thao wishes: “When standing in front of my work, each of us will reflect on the historical value of the city and each will choose a way to preserve and conserve that cultural values!”.
The Exhibition “Fossilised Hanoi” which will be opened to the public until 22nd March 2014, will offer an opportunity for everyone to experience a unique journey through the past, the present and the future of Hanoi.
