Marco Della Seta

Born in Milan, June 6, 1962.

Studied International Relations at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and Political Science at the University of Pavia.

Entered the Italian Diplomatic Service in 1989. After serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Mexico City in 1992 and, to the one in Buenos Aires in 1996. Came back in Rome at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked at the General Directorate for Asia, first dealing with Asian multilateral issues, then as Head of the Office catering to the relations with the countries of South East Asia countries.

After a spell as Chief of Staff of the Undersecretary of State, he became, from 2006 to 2010, Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Beijing.

Returning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, he served at the Diplomatic Protocol of the Republic, becoming Deputy Director.

Appointed as Ambassador to Seoul (and Pyongyang), where he served from 2015 to 2019.

Back in Rome, he became Coordinator on Law of the Sea issues at the Legal Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Appointed as Head of Mission to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, where he assumed office on August 7, 2023.

Marco della Seta is single and speaks fluent French, English and Spanish.
