EU Literature Days 2023

The European Union National Institutes for Culture network (EUNIC) presents the European Literature Days 2023, which will take place in Hanoi from May 13 – 21, 2023.

European characters in Vietnam exhibition opening

The European Literature Days 2023 is organized in Hanoi with the participation of 13 European nations (Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, The United Kingdom, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland). It is a series of events including book introductions, story reading and literary discussions. It also includes a ‘European characters in Vietnam’ contest and a Quiz on European Literature Days which have attracted many candidates passionate about European literature.

The works will be displayed and introduced at seminars, book introductions and exhibitions. After the Opening Ceremony, the audience will have the opportunity to connect with the authors, translators, publishers and editors as well as attend seminars or other interactive activities. The European Express event organized by young students from the Book and Action Law Club of Hanoi Law University will allow the audience to explore the cultures of Europe through literary works.

Event venues include 19/12 Book Street, Casa Italia, Goethe-Institut Hanoi, Institut Français de Hanoi and the Kim Dong Publishing house.


In the framework of the EU Literature Days 2023, the Embassy of Italy to Vietnam presents the following Italian books translated in Vietnamese:

“La Madre” by Grazia Deledda (Casa Italia, 19/05 at 17:00)

“Storia della Bellezza” by Umberto Eco (Casa Italia, 20/05 at 9:30)

“Il Libro dei Perche'” by Gianni Rodari (Casa Italia, 21/05 at 9:30).
