The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi is glad to present the 7th Italian Design Day in Vietnam (IDD). Launched in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, IDD is held in more than 100 cities around the world. Its main purpose is to promote the history and modernity of Italian design and architecture, share experiences with partners worldwide and encourage the exchange of innovative practices.
The theme of this edition is “Quality that illuminates. The energy of design for people and the environment”. The concept emphasizes how artificial light represents a tool for modern and green development of urban areas, thus contributing to achieve social inclusion and sustainability.
The message behind the 7th Design Day is consistent with the concept of the candidature of the City of Rome to host the World Expo 2030, whose title is: “People and territories: regeneration, inclusion and innovation”. More info on: www.romeexpo2030.com.
IDD 2023 is also a launching platform for “Il Salone del Mobile di Milano” (Milan, 18-23 April 2023). Established in 1961, the “Salone” represents the largest trade fair of its kind in the world, showcasing the latest innovations in furniture and design from many countries. The next edition of the “Salone” will also host “Euroluce 2023”, the leading fair dedicated to innovative solutions in the fields of internal and external lighting. In Hanoi, IDD 2023 will include the following two initiatives in the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Italy.
– The exhibition “Everything is illuminated. Geography of views between history and contemporaneity.” Organized in collaboration with Dino Zoli Foundation of DZ Engineering Group, the exhibition displays twenty panels showing historical and contemporary urban sites where DZ intervened through innovative lighting systems.
Everything is illuminated will be opened on March 8 2023 at 3PM at Casa Italia (18 Le Phung Hieu, Hoan Kiem). The exhibition can be visited in Casa Italia from 8 to 15 March 2023 between 10AM and 6 PM.
– A Conference on urban heritage lighting design. The Conference will take place on March 9 2023 at 09:30AM at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE – 55 Giai Phong, Hai Ba Trung).
The Italian Design Ambassador in Vietnam for 2023, Mr. Roberto Grilli, General Manager of DZ Engineering, will deliver a keynote speech. The event will be attended by Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa, Rector of HUCE, Mr. Antonio Alessandro, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, and Mr. Christian Manhart, UNESCO Representative to Vietnam.
