The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi and the Viet Nam National Space Center (VNSC) – Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) are glad to present the exhibition “Viet Nam – Italy Space Technology and Applications. Looking Beyond”.
The exhibition displays 23 high-definition images of the Earth taken by the Italian satellite system COSMO-SkyMed and processed by Telespazio/e-GEOS, including two remarkable images of the city of Hanoi and the Mekong Delta, together with 9 panels by VNSC illustrating the applications of satellite images in remote sensing and disaster preventions in Vietnam.
Seen from the sky, our planet looks like a patchwork or a mosaic, resembling a beautiful piece of contemporary art. However, satellite technology has many important uses for human well-being and safety, as it provides crucial information on climate change and earth dynamics, thus helping to prevent natural disasters and better protect our environment.
The exhibition will be held at the VNSC (Building A6, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet Str., Hanoi).
The opening ceremony, at the presence of the Ambassador of Italy to Viet Nam, H.E. Antonio Alessandro, the Vice President of the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology, Prof. Le Truong Giang, and the Director General of the VNSC, Dr. Pham Anh Tuan, will take place on Monday 12 December at 14:30.
The exhibition will be open to public on Monday 12 December at 16:00 and can be visited from Tuesday 13 December until Friday 23 December from 9:00 to 17:00.
The initiative takes place in view of the celebration next year of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Italy and on the occasion of the Italian National Space Day (16 December), celebrated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in many countries around the world, including in Vietnam.

With over 200 companies, more than 7000 employees and 10 national technology districts, Italy is one of the few countries with a complete supply chain in the field of space industry. The Italian space industry includes both large and small/medium sized enterprises and has a long tradition of international cooperation (joint research programs, scientific activities, training and capacity building) with many countries, including with Vietnam.
At the time when Viet Nam is implementing its National Space Strategy, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and leading space technology companies such as Telespazio/e-Geos, Thales Alenia and Leonardo can concretely contribute to the development of Vietnamese expertise in this field.
