On the next 20 September 2022, Italy and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will co-host the second event of the Youth 4 Climate initiative under the theme “Youth 4 Climate- Powering Action”.
Co-chaired by Italy and UNDP, Youth 4 Climate is a global initiative aimed at fostering youth engagement and empowerment for climate action. The idea behind the initiative is to channel in positive the youth mobilization taking place worldwide and commit young generations towards global climate change agenda.
Italy hosted the first event of the initiative in Milan in 2021, during its co-presidency of CoP26. Titled “Youth 4 Climate: Driving Ambitions”, the event gathered more than 400 young people from all around the world (including Vietnam) to propose ideas and take actions on the most urgent issues related to climate crisis.
This year, Italy has been partnering with UNDP to organize the second event of the Youth 4 Climate initiative on the margins of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. Under the theme “Youth 4 Climate: Powering Action”, the event will be dedicated to enhancing the results achieved by the Initiative from year to year, facilitating also the exchange of ideas between young people and high-level ambassadors and consolidating the alliance of the Initiative with the United Nations system.
To this end, 150 young climate leaders from all around the world – including Vietnam – have been selected by a special joint committee made by UNDP and the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition.
