On 3–4 September 2025, Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy Valentino Valentini visited Vietnam as part of his mission to Asia.

Yesterday, Deputy Minister Valentini first held bilateral meetings with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long. “Two cordial meetings,” Valentini emphasized, “during which we had an interesting exchange of views on opportunities to further strengthen the already positive economic relations between Italy and Vietnam, both in terms of trade and investment.”

Italian exports to Vietnam grew by +26% in 2024, while trade between the two countries recorded +11.5% growth in the first four months of this year. Vietnam is also Italy’s leading supplier within the ASEAN area (accounting for about 40% of Italian imports from the region).

Together with Deputy Minister Long, Deputy Minister Valentini also co-chaired a roundtable dedicated to the JETP (Just Energy Transition Partnership) program and the opportunities offered by Vietnam’s energy transition market. The event was attended by a delegation of 15 Italian companies in the sector as well as major Vietnamese energy enterprises (PetroVietnam and Electricity Vietnam). During the roundtable, CDP, SACE, and SIMEST presented their respective instruments to support Italian companies.

The Deputy Minister later visited the Piaggio plant in Phu Tho province and met, at the Residence of Ambassador Marco Della Seta, with the companies taking part in the following day’s Business Forum.

Finally, the Italy-Vietnam Business Forum was held today in Hanoi, jointly organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and Confindustria with the support of Vietnam’s Foreign Investment Agency, and co-chaired by Deputy Minister Valentini and Deputy Minister of Finance Ho Sy Hung. The Forum was an important initiative of “growth diplomacy”, in line with the “Export Plan” launched by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani to support Italian exports in high-potential non-EU markets.

The event was attended by 63 Italian companies and more than 300 Vietnamese firms active in the following four priority sectors: machinery and agri-tech; energy transition and circular economy; infrastructure and transport; high technology and innovation. During the Forum, in the presence of Deputy Ministers Valentini and Hung, 10 Memoranda of Understanding were exchanged between economic entities and companies from both countries.
