Prime Minister Renzi met his counterpart Dung, the Secretary General of the Communist Party<\/SPAN> <\/FONT><\/SPAN>Trong and the President of the Republic Truong Tan Sang. A meeting with high profile representatives of the Italian business community In Vietnam provided also PM Renzi with insightful\u00a0 <\/SPAN>perspectives over the opportunities offered by the Country as a hub and gateway for the region.

The visit ensured a significant impetus to the the strenghtening of the bilateral relations, in line with the commitments set out in the Action Plan for the Strategic Partnership.
\n
Special attention was reserved to the political perspectives (both bilateral and in the multilateral fora) and to trade and investment, with a view to ensure that the two Countries tap into their potential to further boost their relations. In particular, the objectives to reach a commercial exchange worth 5 billion dollars by 2016 was put forward.
\n
A special commitment was also renewed in the development cooperation sector, since Italy confirmed\u00a0 <\/SPAN>its assistance to the Country\u00a0 <\/SPAN>through the implementation of new projects to be funded by means of soft loans.
\n
The strenghtening of the university exchanges and relations were acknowledged as well a core role in fostering people-to-people contacts and supporting the commercial relations.
