{"id":2047,"date":"2020-12-02T14:45:46","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T07:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambhanoi.esteri.it\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2020\/12\/xvi-giornata-del-contemporaneo-2\/"},"modified":"2020-12-02T14:45:46","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T07:45:46","slug":"xvi-giornata-del-contemporaneo-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambhanoi.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2020\/12\/xvi-giornata-del-contemporaneo-2\/","title":{"rendered":"XVI Italian Contemporary Art Day &#8211; Initiatives of the Italian Embassy in Vietnam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the <strong>XVI edition of Italian Contemporary Art Day<\/strong>, the Embassy of Italy\u00a0to Vietnam promoted the following initiatives:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u201cItaly through the lens of Vietnamese contemporary artists\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Given the impossibility\u00a0to bring artists from Italy due to the current\u00a0sanitary situation, the Embassy launched a competition among young Vietnamese artists on the theme &#8220;Italy through the lens of Vietnamese contemporary artists&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Participants were asked to produce a contemporary artwork (painting or sculpture) inspired by our country.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, realized together with the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Art Studies &#8211; VICAS, has the dual objective of promoting the image of Italian contemporary art in Vietnam and offering emerging Vietnamese artists the opportunity to present their works to an international audience.<\/p>\n<p>There are 32 artists who have joined the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The selection committee consists of 3 members: Dr. Anna Mattirolo (member of the Scientific Committee of the Farnesina Collection), Dr. Bui Quang Thang (for VICAS) and the First Secretary Paolo Epifani (as representative of the Embassy).<\/p>\n<p>The first prize was awarded to &#8220;The Utopia Land&#8221;, by the artist Nguy\u00e8n Xu\u00e2n Lam.<\/p>\n<p>The committee\u00a0also considered two other works presented at the competition to be of particular value: &#8220;Tarantella Dance under the Moon&#8221;, by the artist Ph\u00f9ng V\u0103n Tu\u00e8, and &#8220;Quan \u00c2m down the Mountain&#8221;, by the artists V\u00e8 \u0110\u1ed7 &#038; Qu\u00e8nh Chu.<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning works will increase the artistic endowment of the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>All the participating works will also be presented to the public in an exhibition that will be\u00a0held at Casa Italia from 8 to 11 December.
