VISAS TO ENTER ITALY
Starting from July 1st, 2019 it is possible to apply for short term (up to 90 days) Tourist and Business Schengen Visas to Italy through VFS Global offices - 11th floor Ocean Park Building – 1 Dao Duy Anh – Ha Noi.
Beforehand: Preliminary Information
- The applicant has to apply through the Embassy of the Country of his/her main destination (according to the purpose of the journey and/or the length of stay).
- We suggest you to visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/ where all the relevant information concerning visa issuance to Italy can be found.
- Be sure that the passport is valid for at least 3 months after the requested visa’s expiration and the picture on the passport matches with the features of the applicant. The passport must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps.
- Check the departure date, reminding that the processing time for the visa could be up to 15 calendar days. It is the applicant’s responsibility to take the necessary precautions in order to meet the time requirements. Visa applications can be submitted starting from 6 months before the expected travelling date (9 months for seaman working on a ship) up to 15 days before. An application lodged less than 15 calendar days before the intended departure may be accepted, but the visa might not be issued in time.
Once you have checked all the above requirements, you can start preparing the visa documents.
Submission of the Visa Application:
Applications for short term (up to 90 days) Tourist and Business visas can be submitted through the Visa Application Center for Italy managed by VFS Global at the following address: 11th floor Ocean Park Building, 1 Dao Duy Anh, Ha Noi,. To book an appointment please connect to the VFS’ website – www.vfsglobal.com/italy/vietnam/index.html , create an account and check the list of available appointments. The hotline number +84 283 5212002 and the email address Info.itvn@vfsglobal.com are available in case of inquiries. All other kind of visa must be submitted through the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi (opening time: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.00 to 11.30) and an appointment must be taken by phone at the number +84.2438256256 ext.121.
The visa fee must be paid in Vietnam Dong (VND) and in cash. No money will be refunded in case of visa rejection. The visa fee may slightly change every three months, due to different exchange rates. The current exchange rate and fee is published on the notice board of the Consular Office.
All the documents in Vietnamese language must be translated into English or Italian.The documents have to be submitted personally by the applicant.
Invitation letters from Italy (tourism, business, invite, religious purpose or others) must be emailed in advance to the Embassy (email address: visti.hanoi@esteri.it ) by the inviting person from Italy. The specimen of these invitation letters can be found in the section “Forms” on the Embassy’s website.
Interviews: The Visa Office of the Embassy might request an interview with applicants.
Schengen Visa (“VSU”) can be issued for a maximum of 90 days and for the following reasons: transit, business, tourism, study, religious purpose, invitation, mission, self-employment, employment, sport competitions, medical treatment (“C” type visas). The fee is 80 Euros.
National Visa (“VN”) allow long stays (91 days to one year) in the country that issued the visa and, during their valididity, entitle the holders to travel to other Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 6 months time. National visas can be issued for the following reasons: adoption, study, family reunion, religious purpose, medical treatment, self-employment, employment, job recruitment, diplomatic/assignment, mission, re-entry, working vacation (“D” type visas).
Direct flight to Italy without transit in any other Schengen Country (i.e Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland) is rexcommended for this type of visa, as airlines might not board passengers transiting in such other countries.
Tourist Visa (“C” type) - Required documents
- Visa application form duly filled in with all relevant information and signed.
- Two (2) ICAO standard passport-style photos format cm. 4x6; pictures must be recent (less than 3 months), without filters and without airbrushing. Please glue only one photo onto the application form.
- Passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the requested visa’s expiry date and must have at least two consecutive blank pages for visa and stamps.
- 1 copy of the passport’s page with the photo and of all pages with previous visas.
- Return-trip booking or ticket.
- Proof of available lodging in Italy: tourist vouchers, hotel booking, free accommodation offer on specific invite and hospitality form (see “Forms” on the Embassy’s website).
- A guarantee contract (“Atto di fidejussione bancaria”) covering the period of stay issued in the name of the inviting person through a Bank or an Insurance Company in Italy;
- Proof of personal economic means of support: statements of personal bank account of the last 6 months; in case Credit Card bank account is provided, copy of the Card and credit limit (STANDING). Bank savings accounts are not relevant to demonstrate personal income.
- Documents proving socio-professional standing: employment contract, social insurance booklet, leave-permit; true copy of the original business license if the applicant is Head or Shareholder of a Company; for Retired persons, Statement of retirement and allowances.
- Health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies, hospitals and repatriation expenses.
- 1 copy of the Family Book.
- Any other documents supporting the Visa application can be exhibited by the applicant.
Remarks:
If the visa is lodged for a minor, the following additional documents are required:
- 1 true copy of the birth certificate;
- Parental “consent letter” signed by the parents in front of an officer of the Embassy’s Visa Section (the form to be filled can be downloaded from the section “Forms” in the Embassy’s website).
Business Visa ( “C” type) – Documents required
- Visa application form duly filled in with all relevant information and signed.
- Two (2) ICAO standard passport-style, not airbrushed, cm. 4x6 photos. Pictures must be recent (less than 3 months), without filters and without airbrushing. Please glue only one photo onto the application form.
- Passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the requested visa’s expiry date and must have at least two consecutive blank pages for visa and stamps.
- 1 copy of the passport’s page with the photo and of all pages with previous visas.
- Return ticket or booking.
- Documents of the local Company (depending on the case: business license, letter of Decision to send employee/s on business trip abroad, labour contract, copy of the social insurance booklet etc.).
- Verbal Note of the Vietnamese MOFA – Consular Department is required for holders of Official Passport.
- Filled-in form of Invitation letter (see “Forms” on the Embassy’s website) from the Italian company explaining the purpose and the duration of the trip;
- Copy of the certificate of registration of the Italian inviting company (“Visura Camerale”).
- Proof of personal economic means of support: statements of personal bank account of the last 6 months; in case Credit Card bank account is provided, copy of the Card and credit limit (standing). Bank savings accounts are not relevant to demonstrate personal income.
- Health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies, hospitals and repatriation expenses.
- Hotel reservation or proof of a pre-paid or free accommodation offer in Italy;
- 1 copy of the Family Book.
- Any other documents supporting the Visa application can be exhibited by the applicant.
- The Embassy will consider the need of presenting the documents listed at n. 9, 10 and 13 in case the Company applying is already known.
Remarks:
For participation to fairs in Italy, both evidence of the payment of the exhibition hall / stand and evidence of the shipment of the goods to be displayed in the fair have to be included.
Student Visa (“C” type) – Documents required
For “D” type Student Visa please see detailed information in the section “Pre-enrollments and student visas” of the Embassy’s website.
- Visa application form duly filled in with all relevant information and signed.
- Two (2) ICAO standard passport-style, not airbrushed 4x6 cm photos; pictures must be recent (less than 3 months), without filters and without airbrushing. Please glue only one photo onto the application form.
- Passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the requested visa’s expiry date and must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps.
- 1 copy of the passport’s page with the photo and of all pages with previous visas.
- Invitation from the Italian Institute/University/Agency.
- Return ticket or booking.
- Proof of means of support in Italy for the whole period of study. This availability can be proven through personal bank statement of account; bank savings accounts are not relevant to demonstrate personal income.
- Documents issued by the Employer: Decision to send employee/s on study trip abroad, labour contract.
- Verbal Note by Vietnamese MOFA – Consular Department is required for holders of Official Passport.
- Hotel reservation or proof of a pre-paid or free accommodation offer in Italy;
- Health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies, hospitals and repatriation expenses.
- 1 copy of the Family Book.
- Any other documents supporting the Visa application can be exhibited by the applicant.
