Visas to enter Italy

 

We would like to draw the attention of all users on the recent introduction of a new electronic procedure for visa application named “E-@pplication”. Please find herewith detailed which areas fall under the competence of the Embassy (Hanoi) or under the competence of the Consulate General (Ho Chi Minh City)

BEFOREHAND: PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

  1. The applicant has to apply at the Embassy of the Country of his/her main destination (according to the purpose of the journey and the length of stay).
  2. We suggest you to visit the website (of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/ where all the relevant information concerning visa issuance to Italy are displayed.
  3. Be sure that the passport is valid for at least 3 months after planned departure date from Schengen area and that it was issued less than 10 years ago. The passport must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps.
  4. Check the departure date, reminding that the processing time for the visa is 15 calendar days. It is the applicant’s responsibility  to take the necessary precautions in order to meet the time requirements. An application lodged less than 15 calendar days before the intended departure may be accepted, but the processing time may take up to 15 calendar days.

Once you have checked all the above requirements, you can start preparing the visa documents.

 

PRESENTATION OF THE VISA APPLICATION AT THE EMBASSY OF ITALY IN HANOI:


Fee: The consular fee must be paid in cash (VND). The amount may slightly change every three months; The current exchange rate is published on the notice board of the Consular Office.


Documents: All the documents in Vietnamese language must be translated into English or Italian. A Verbal Note of the Vietnamese MOFA – Consular Dept. is also required for holders Service passports. The documents have to be submitted personally by the applicant.

The invitation letters from Italy (tourism, business, invite, religious purpose or others) should be sent in advance by email to the Embassy  -please use email address visti.hanoi@esteri.it; applications without previous emailing of invitation letters will not be accepted.


Interviews: The Visa Office of the Embassy may interview any applicant, regardless if he/she has obtained a previous Schengen visas.

Groups of applicants of more than 5 people presenting their visa requests through an agent (travel agency, local Company, government Offices) must ask for an appointment at the Embassy to lodge their applications and for the collecting of fingerprints.

SCHENGEN VISA ( “VSU” ) allows the holder to circulate within the Schengen territory (i.e Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland) and can be issued for a maximum of 90 days.

Schengen visas can be issued for the following reasons: transit, business, tourism, study, religious purpose, invitation, mission, self-employment, employment, sport competitions, medical treatment (all “C” type).


NATIONAL VISA (“VN”) valid only for staying and circulating in Italy up to 365 days. National visas can be issued for the following reasons: adoption, study, family reunion, accompanying relatives, religious purpose, medical treatment, self-employment, employment, job recruitment, diplomatic/assignment, mission, domicile of choice, re-entry, working vacation (all “D” type).

Direct flight to Italy (without transit in any Schengen Country) is required for this type of visa.


TOURIST VISA ( “C” type)

  1. Visa application form duly filled in with all relevant information and signed;
  2. Two (2) recent ICAO standard passport-style, not retouched photos format cm. 4x6; please glue only one photo on the application form;
  3. Passport valid for at least 3 months after planned departure date from Schengen area and that it was issued less than 10 years ago. The passport must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps;
  4. 1 Copy of all pages of the passport;
  5. Return-trip booking or ticket;
  6. Proof of available lodging in Italy: tourist vouchers, hotel booking, free accommodation offer on specific invite and hospitality form (see “Forms” on the Embassy’s website);
  7. A guarantee contract  (“Atto di fidejussione bancaria”) covering the period of stay made by the inviting person through a Bank or an Insurance Company in Italy;
  8. Proof of personal economic means of support: statements of personal bank account of the last 6 months; in case Credit Card bank account is provided, copy of the Card and credit limit (STANDING). Bank savings accounts are not relevant to demonstrate personal income;
  9. Documents proving socio-professional standing: employment contract, social insurance booklet, leave-permit; true copy of the original business license if the applicant is Head or Shareholder of a Company; for Retired persons, Statement of retirement and allowances.
  10. Health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency hospital and repatriation expenses;
  11. Any other documents supporting the Visa application can be exhibited by the applicant or requested by the Visa Office.

Remarks:
If the visa is lodged for a minor, following, additional documents are required :
- Birth certificate legalized by the Vietnamese MOFA – Consular Dept.;

- Parental consent signed at the Embassy’s Visa Section.

 

BUSINESS VISA ( “C” type)

  1. Visa application form duly filled in with all relevant information and signed;
  2. Two (2) recent ICAO standard, not retouched passport-style photos format 4x6; please glue only one photo on the application form;
  3. Passport valid for at least 3 months after planned departure date from Schengen area and that it was issued less than 10 years ago. The passport must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps;
  4. 1 Copy of all pages of the passport;
  5. Return ticket or booking;
  6. Documents of  the local Company (depending on the case: business license, letter of Decision to send employee/s on business trip abroad, labour contract, copy of the social insurance booklet  etc.); Verbal Note of the Vietnamese MOFA – Consular Dept. is required for holders of Service Passport;
  7. Filled-in form of Invitation letter (see “Forms”on the Embassy’s website) from the Italian company explaining the purpose and the duration of the trip;
  8. Copy of the certificate of registration of the Italian inviting company (“Visura Camerale”);
  9. Proof of personal economic means of support: statements of personal bank account of the last 6 months; in case Credit Card bank account is provided, copy of the Card and credit limit (standing). Bank savings accounts are not relevant to demonstrate personal income;
  10. Health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency hospital and repatriation expenses;
  11. Hotel reservation or proof of a pre-paid or free accommodation offer in Italy;
  12. Any other documents supporting the Visa application can be exhibited by the applicant or requested by the Visa Office.

Remarks:

For participation to fairs in Italy: evidence of the payment of the exhibition hall / stand  has to be included as well as the evidence of the shipment of the goods to be displayed in the fair

 

STUDY VISA ( “C” type)

  1. 1. Visa application form duly filled in with all relevant information and signed;
  2. Two (2) recent ICAO standard, not retouched passport-style photos format 4x6; please glue only one photo on the application form;
  3. Passport valid for at least 3 months after planned departure date from Schengen area and that it was issued less than 10 years ago. The passport must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps.
  4. 1 Copy of all pages of the passport;
  5. Invitation from the Italian Institute/University/Agency;
  6. Return ticket or booking;
  7. Proof of means of support in Italy for the whole period of study. This availability can be proven through personal bank statement of account; bank savings accounts are not relevant to demonstrate personal income;
  8. Documents issued by the Employer:  Decision to send employee/s on study trip abroad, labour contract. Verbal Note by Vietnamese MOFA – Consular Dept. is required for holders of Service Passport;
  9. Hotel reservation or proof of a pre-paid or free accommodation offer in Italy;
  10. Health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency hospital and repatriation expenses;
  11. Any other documents supporting the Visa application can be exhibited by the applicant or requested by the Visa Office.
