The Embassy of Italy in Vietnam makes available to the public a collection of books in Italian and Vietnamese at the "Carlo Urbani" Library, located on the second floor of Casa Italia (18 Le Phung Hieu, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi).

Carlo Urbani was a doctor and a microbiologist who in 2003 gave his life for the research on the epidemic of SARS: thanks to its in-depth studies and his sacrifice, Vietnam has been able to isolate the pathogen virus agent and, through a quarantine action and dedicated care, he managed to defeat SARS in short time. In 2020 Dr. Urbani was awarded by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella the Grand Cross of Honor of the Order of the Star of Italy.
It is therefore significant that the place of culture par excellence, the library of Casa Italia, is dedicated to a man whose life has witnessed the profound friendship between Italy and Vietnam.
