VISIT OF MINISTER OF JUSTICE, ANDREA ORLANDO, TO VIETNAM (25-27 OCTOBER 2016)

From 25 to 28 October the Minister of Justice, Hon. Andrea Orlando, paid a visit to Hanoi, the first by an Italian Minister of the Justice in Vietnam.

During the talks with the highest ranking officials (Prime Minister, President of the National Assembly, Minister of Justice, Head of the People’s Supreme Procuracy and Deputy Inspector General of the Government) he covered the main issues of the bilateral agenda, with particular reference to cooperation in the judicial field and the ongoing reforms in Vietnam. With the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation was thus laid the foundations for the intensification of contacts and exchanges between the two Ministries of Justice, particularly in the field of training.

Minister Orlando also visited the Department of Italian Studies of Hanoi University, where he met with students for a debate on the Italian judicial system and the Italo-Vietnamese relations.

Eventually, the Minister bestowed the insignia of the Order of the Star of Italy to three deserving Vietnamese citizens who through their work have increased the prestige of Italy in Vietnam.
