Antonio Alessandro was born in Rome in 1963 and graduated in Political Science at “La Sapienza University” of Rome in 1988.
He joined the Diplomatic Career in 1990 and was assigned to the Directorate General for Development Cooperation, dealing with Asia affairs.
His first assignment abroad, between 1992 and 1996, was in Luanda, Angola. In 1996, he moved to Australia, where he took up the duties of Italian Consul in Brisbane.
He returned to the Ministry headquarters in 2000, dealing with space and information technology at the Directorate General for Multilateral Economic and Financial Cooperation.
In 2003 he went abroad again, serving as Counselor in the Permanent Representation of Italy at the United Nations in New York.
From 2008, he has been First Counselor and later Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Brasilia.
In 2011 he was at the Ministry headquarters, first as Head of Office II at the Directorate General for Resources and Innovation and then, in 2014, as Head of the Coordination Unit of the General Secretariat.
He speaks English, French and Portuguese and is learning the basis of Vietnamese.
Married since 1995, he has three children.
